The Dallas Mavericks' injury woes continued as forward P.J. Washington sprained his right ankle during pregame warmups, forcing him out of the starting lineup against the LA Clippers. Washington's injury came just minutes before the game's opening tip-off, adding to the team's mounting injury concerns.
This setback comes as a blow to the Mavericks, who were already without their top three big men. Anthony Davis, returning from a month-long absence due to a left calf strain, sat out the second night of a back-to-back schedule. Daniel Gafford, who has been dealing with right ankle soreness since training camp, was also ruled out due to injury management. Additionally, Dereck Lively II, who has been battling swelling and discomfort in his surgically repaired right foot, did not make the trip with the team.
Despite these challenges, Washington was averaging career-highs of 16.0 points and 7.8 rebounds per game, making his absence a significant loss for the Mavericks' lineup. The team now faces a challenging task to fill the void left by Washington's injury and manage the other players' health issues.
